Well known to Cape Cod audiences as the Music Director of the Chatham Chorale, Joseph Marchio is both Founder and Artistic Director of Boston's Cantata 4 Ensemble, a group of professionals from the Boston area specializing in the music of the Baroque era. In addition, he is an organist who has served as dean of this region's chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
A native of Charleston, WV, Mr. Marchio holds degrees from Yale University, the Boston Conservatory, and the College of Wooster. He received his Master of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory as a student of Dr. William Cutter. While there, he served as a graduate conducting assistant for the Boston Conservatory Chorale.
As an organ soloist, Mr. Marchio has performed throughout the United States and Canada and he is a featured performer on a CD celebrating some of the historic pipe organs throughout Cape Cod. Currently Joseph Marchio also serves as director of music and organist at First Congregational Church in Chatham and as adjunct professor of music at Cape Cod Community College.
