In recognition of Valentine's Day, the Chatham Chorale's celebration of love and affection included a feast of loved musical treasures for solo tenor and chorus in two concerts at Nauset Regional Middle School, Route 28, Orleans, MA on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19.
Luigi Boccia, described in Opera News as “an uncommonly cerebral tenor” and a favorite guest on Cape Cod, is considered by many to be one of the world's next famous tenors. To hear the tenor in a performance of Mozart's Don Giovanni earlier this year, please click here: Luigi Boccia Sings Mozart
In addition to Boccia's performances of well-loved tenor arias, the Chorale, under the baton of its dynamic new music director Joseph Marchio, performed a medley from Phantom of the Opera, a passionate, dazzling, emotionally moving love story, "'You'll Never Walk Alone," a favorite from Rogers & Hammerstein's 1945 classic Carousel, and the beautiful "One Hand-One Heart" from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. Other well-loved pieces added to this memorable recognition of Valentine's Day.
From Brooklyn, NY and Italy, Luigi Boccia is currently a resident artist at Philadelphia's Academy of Vocal Arts. He made his debut in Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, New York, was featured with Pacific Opera Company in Weill Hall and has performed to standing room only crowds at Chatham’s First Night events.
