LILY THE TIGER
Dana McCoy’s new rock musical —the search for one’s voice…and a fierce decision to live out loud!
SYNOPSIS: LILY the TIGER is a spellbinding rock musical and the latest tour-de-force from the multi-award-winning, Billboard chart-topping singer/songwriter Dana McCoy. McCoy’s heroine Lily moves through a real-world jungle of foes both comical and deadly (pure fiction, swears McCoy). She packs her heroine with a powerhouse of brains, talent, and charm and finds comedic gold in the disconnect between these qualities and the timid woman we initially see. As traumatic events unfold—from intimate partner violence to a health crisis and more—frailty and ferocity war inside McCoy’s complex, relatable character and explode into eleven captivating original songs.
DANA MCCOY: Book and music writer. LILY the TIGER garnered kudos at one of New York’s premiere off-Broadway festivals, and the world's largest solo theater festival, United Solo: Best Song in 2023 and Best Musical in 2024. No surprise its sensational vibe comes from Dana McCoy, whose recent credits also include “Best Original Score” and “Best Composer” awards for the film 3 Muses at festivals in Cannes, NY, Boston, LA and Toronto, and who’s held recording contracts with Virgin, EMI and Columbia and topped Billboard Charts worldwide.
THE TEAM : On McCoy’s LILY the TIGER team are hit Broadway writer/performer/director Gretchen Cryer (I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It On The Road), who guided script development; and Marcia Haufrecht (Actor’s Studio, Dog Day Afternoon, Armageddon Time with Sir Anthony Hopkins) who added polish and dazzle with her dramatic coaching. Depending on the venue, the pantheon of fellow rockers has included Mike Fornatale (The Left Banke, Dot Wiggin Band, and The Losers’ Lounge NYC); Alec Morton (Raging Slab and Monster Magnet); Sean Allison of The Small Potatoes Playhouse, Florence Marcisak (Florence of God); rockstar drummers Rikki Bates of The Incredible Casuals and/or Albert Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult). Janet Murphy Robertson of ArtistsAndMusicians.org is the show’s development producer who’s guided Lily’s progress from inception, and whose business credits include consulting for Tiffany and Cartier, VP at Tommy Hilfiger and founder and director of ArtistsAndMusicians.org since 2008.
PRODUCTION: LILY the TIGER has been tested and works beautifully as a solo show or a full rock musical. The multiple characters played to date by McCoy herself can also be cast with individual actors. The show is fully convertible and can be configured equally well as a solo performance, a fully cast production with rock band, professional direction, choreography and design team. McCoy and her band are available to tour performing a concert version. We see this ultimately as a 3-season television series with an original song per episode. This production would become Season 1.
ALBUM: LILY the TIGER has a radio-ready companion album produced by BLUSH, Rockstar Rikki Bates and Dana McCoy, and coproduced by Mike Fornatale.
